It's cold.  Everyone is talking about the subpolar temps gripping regions across the US and the world at large. Since we cannot escape the bitter chill, we must prepare our skincare regimen for battle against the harmful effects of the drying cold and face freezing winds.  In eight hours, my hands went from dry and dull to shockingly smooth, supple and glowing after applying my quick and easy Overnight Hand Therapy recipe, which I recommend using all year long – not only during the deep freeze!

Holiday Tip: Delicious Detox With Cleansing Calendula Tea

Every year I vow to attend fewer holiday parties to avoid overindulging in decadent hors d' oeuvres and free flowing flutes of champagne.  However, every year I go back on this resolution, give in to my inner party girl and make the rounds of the festive celebration circuit.  My life is built around varying degrees of moderation, so I'm always vigilant about watching what I put into my body. This year, I've added something new to my arsenal of good health and maintenance that is particularly beneficial during the holidays: Calendula tea.

Silky, Aromatic Coconut Milk For Body & Hair

Today is a well-deserved at-home spa day.  I've been traveling a little more than usual lately, and now my body is feeling the general effects of lugging my bags, walking through terminals and traversing through wonderful cities.  Simply put – I'm tired and in need of an invigorating, silky and aromatic treatment, the main ingredient of which is... pure coconut milk.

Traveling? Prepare a Room Service Facial

Do you dread post flight breakouts and dry skin?  Recirculated air in airplanes draws moisture from wherever possible, creating a moisture-free environment that can throw off our skin's balance.  Dry skin usually gets drier, and oily skin tends to get oilier to overcompensate for the conditions.  On a recent trip to Chicago, I followed these simple steps and they worked wonderfully.

Luxurious Rice Water Soak For The Dry Hands of Autumn

We've all experienced it, especially in certain regions and climates.  One day it's summer and 95 degrees, and the next day you start the morning with a 50 degree chill in the air.  Usually, the first parts of my body to react to this drop in temperature are my hands and lips.  To combat dry, flaky skin on my hands and around my fingernails, I do a weekly soak with rose petals, sandalwood, essential oils and vitamin/mineral-rich rice water.

DIY Skin Brightening Treatment

I've had family visiting from Oregon for the past week, which means I've been spending more time outdoors than indoors.  My broad brimmed hats, sunscreen and sun dodging sometimes are no match for those intense rays and when I feel it's taken a toll on my skin, I treat it biweekly to a wonderfully cooling and brightening organic face mask formulated with several ingredients sourced directly from my local farmer's market.

Why Rituals Are Key To Leading Exceptional Lives

My closest friends are sometimes amused by how "particular" I am, although I see that comment as a nice way of calling me difficult.  The truth is, I do like things a certain way.  For me, it's not just that you do something, it's how you do it – the process, the approach, the context. OK, I do sound a little difficult, however allow me to explain.
