CAN PREGNANT WOMEN USE INCENSE?

Pregnant women should approach incense use with extra care and moderation. During pregnancy, sensitivity to scents and smoke often increases, and strong aromas or prolonged smoke exposure may cause discomfort such as nausea, headaches, or irritation.

If incense is used during pregnancy, best practices include:

  • Choosing low-smoke or gentle herbal incense blends
  • Burning very small amounts for short periods of time
  • Ensuring the space is well-ventilated with fresh air
  • Avoiding daily or prolonged exposure
  • Discontinuing use immediately if any discomfort occurs

Many expectant mothers prefer smokeless alternatives during pregnancy, such as sound cleansing, intention-setting rituals, light aromatics, or simply opening windows to refresh a space. These options support a sense of calm without introducing smoke into the environment.

As every pregnancy is different, it’s always wise to listen to your body and consult a healthcare provider if you have questions about scent or smoke exposure during pregnancy.

ARE YOUR PRODUCTS CRUELTY-FREE?

 IS SMOKE CLEANSING OR SMUDGING SAFE FOR PETS?

Smoke cleansing can be used safely in homes with pets when done mindfully and in moderation. Animals have much more sensitive respiratory systems than humans, so it’s important to keep smoke exposure minimal.

If you choose to smoke cleanse in a pet-friendly home:

  • Use a small amount of smoke rather than letting it build up
  • Make sure the space is well-ventilated by opening windows or doors
  • Allow pets the option to leave the room if they choose
  • Never direct smoke toward animals or their bedding, food, or water areas

Many pet owners prefer gentler alternatives to traditional smoke cleansing, such herbal incense blends designed to produce lighter smoke or use smaller quantities.

Good Living Is Glam products are carefully crafted based on ancient
practices, a simple and natural approach to wellness, and a deep knowledge of
aromatherapy. Our founder, Gina, constantly researches ingredients and
products; our team always tests the products in our personal lives and homes.
When launching Good Living Is Glam in 2017, Gina also pursued a certification
in aromatherapy at Aromahead Institute (200+ hours of training and coursework
accredited by AIA, NAHA and IFPA) to enrich her knowledge and ensure we always
follow the safest practices.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SAGE AND PALO SANTO?

Sage and palo santo are both traditionally used for smoke cleansing, but they differ in origin, intention, scent, and overall experience.

Sage, most commonly white sage, is traditionally used for deep cleansing and clearing. It’s often associated with removing heavy or stagnant energy and “resetting” a space entirely. The aroma is strong, earthy, and herbal, and the smoke tends to be thicker. Because of its intensity, sage is often used sparingly or during significant transitions, such as moving into a new home.

Palo santo, which translates to “holy wood,” is typically used to invite calm, clarity, and positivity rather than to deeply purge. Its scent is warm, slightly sweet, and woodsy, and the smoke is generally lighter. Many people turn to palo santo for daily or weekly rituals, meditation, or moments of grounding.

Another key difference is how they’re experienced in modern homes:

  • Sage is more intense and not always ideal for small or shared spaces
  • Palo santo tends to feel gentler and more approachable for regular use

Because of these differences, some people choose sage when they want a full energetic reset, and palo santo when they want to restore balance and maintain a peaceful environment. Others opt for herbal incense blends that offer a softer experience while still supporting intentional rituals.

HOW TO USE PALO SANTO INCENSE?

One of the most common ways to use palo santo wood is through smoke cleansing. This practice involves gently burning palo santo and allowing the aromatic smoke to clear stagnant energy from yourself, your home, or your workspace.

To use palo santo, light one end of the wood stick and let it burn for a few seconds. Once the flame catches, gently blow it out. The stick will continue to smolder, releasing a soft, grounding smoke.

You can guide the smoke around your body, throughout a room, or over personal items such as journals, crystals, a photo, or other meaningful objects. As you do, set a clear intention. Whether that’s releasing stress, restoring focus, or creating a sense of calm. (Think: less chaos, more clarity.)

Many people use palo santo as part of a daily or weekly ritual to support a peaceful, positive environment. When finished, place the stick in a fire-safe dish and allow it to fully extinguish. A little goes a long way. 

HOW LONG DOES HERBAL INCENSE LAST?

Herbal incense blends are designed to be long-lasting and used in small amounts, making them both effective and economical. On average, a single jar of loose herbal incense can last several weeks to a couple months, depending on how often and how generously it’s used.

Because herbal incense is typically burned in pinches or spoonfuls rather than full sticks, most people use it for short, intentional moment, such as a morning reset, an evening wind-down, or a weekly energy cleanse. 

To extend the life of your herbal incense:

  • Burn small amounts rather than the entire blend at once
  • Use a heat-safe burner or charcoal disc designed for loose incense
  • Store the blend in an airtight container away from heat, moisture and direct sunlight

Herbal incense blends are crafted with dried herbs, resins, and botanicals, which naturally retain their aroma over time when stored properly. Even when not burned, the scent can remain subtly present when the jar is opened, which serves as bonus aromatherapy.

If you prefer an option that creates lighter smoke or shorter burn times, herbal incense blends are often chosen over traditional incense sticks or wood for their flexibility, control, and longevity.

WHAT IS YOUR RETURN AND REFUND POLICY?

To initiate a return, please email us at info@goodlivingisglam.com within 14 days of the order delivery date. You are responsible for the return shipping costs back to our returns processing center; there are NO restocking fees. 

If you received a defective or damaged item, please email us a photo and we will ship a replacement at no cost to you.

All returns are accepted at the discretion of Good Living Is Glam. Please ensure your return is packaged securely so it arrives undamaged. Used items cannot be refunded or credited.

IMPORTANT: If your order included a Gift With Purchase, and your return makes you ineligible for that gift, please return the gift with your order. If it is not returned, the value of the gift will be deducted from your refund or store credit.

Non-returnable / non-refundable items include:

  • Items delivered more than 14 days ago

Returns received outside of our policy will not be credited.
Refused packages are the responsibility of the customer.

HOW DO I TRACK MY SHIPMENTS IF ITEMS SHIP SEPARATELY?

Each shipment will have its own tracking number, which you’ll receive by email as soon as it leaves its respective location. All tracking information is also visible on your order status page.

No. You only pay the shipping cost shown at checkout — even if your order is fulfilled by multiple partners and arrives in separate packages.

Packages can occasionally be marked delivered a bit early, or delivered to the wrong address.
