Truth: I am more MoMA than the Met.
Also true: Walking through the Medieval, European Sculpture and French Decorative Arts Galleries at the Metropolitan Museum of Art recently reminded me how essential it is to pay homage to genius artists and creators beyond the modern art I love. So much beauty, drama, detail and passion.
My friend and I came for the Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibit, which featured nearly 100 designs for men and women, spanning more than 4 decades of this iconic style. Unfortunately, no photography was allowed, so we oohed and aahed our way through the exhibition before heading to the Roof Garden for prosecco, people watching, a lovely breeze, and a stunning sunset.
As we were wandering to find the exit we stumbled upon several permanent collections that we had never seen before on previous visits. We ended up staying until closing. Much like my visit to MoMA a few weeks ago, we ended up discovering something special and so different from what brought us there in the first place.
